Your slicer shows the grams and print time.

Your time on it

Spool saves your printers, filaments and last job in this browser, so next time you only type the grams and hours. Nothing is uploaded.

Every cost, not just the plastic

Slicers tell you what the filament costs. That is usually the smallest part of the bill. Spool adds the electricity, wear on the printer, repairs, failed prints and your own time, and shows the maths for each line.

Every line explained

Each cost shows its own formula with your numbers in it, so you can check it and defend your price.

A floor and an ask

Break-even is the price you must never go below. Your markup on top is the price to quote.

Your time counts

Design, setup and finishing time are priced at your hourly rate. Hobby time is still time.

Failed prints included

A buffer for spaghetti and warped first layers, applied to the costs a failure actually wastes.

Customer-ready quote

Copy or print a short, clean quote with the price and a 14 day validity line.

Questions

How much should I charge for a 3D print?

At least your break-even: filament, electricity, printer wear, repairs, a failure buffer and your time. Then add a markup for profit. Spool works out both from your own numbers.

How do I work out filament cost per print?

Grams used times spool price, divided by spool weight. A 120 g print from a 1 kg spool that cost 22 is 120 x 22 / 1000 = 2.64. Your slicer shows the grams.

How much electricity does a 3D printer use?

Many hobby printers average 100 to 150 watts while printing, though heated beds and enclosures change that. A smart plug gives you your real figure. Spool multiplies watts by hours by your rate per kWh.

What is printer depreciation?

Your printer wears out. If it cost 1,000 and lasts about 5,000 print hours, each hour of printing uses up 0.20 of it. Spool adds that per job.

Does Spool work in my currency?
