The bank of

Piggy keeps your family bank in this browser. Nothing is uploaded. Download a backup so a cleared browser never wipes their savings.

The family bank, for free

Kids' banking apps charge 3 to 20 a month. For many families the only part they use is the ledger: what came in, what went out, and how close the bike fund is. Piggy is that ledger, with the parent as the bank.

Allowance on autopilot

Weekly on any day, or monthly on any date. Missed days are filled in when you next open Piggy, never twice.

Savings goals

A bike, a game, a trip. Kids see how close they are and roughly how many weeks to go.

Interest that teaches

Optionally pay monthly interest on savings, so children see their money grow.

Real statements

Print a monthly bank statement for each child, with opening and closing balances, for the fridge.

All your kids

One card per child with their own animal, balance and history.

No card, no account

Nothing to sign up for and nothing to pay. Data stays on your device.

Questions

Is Piggy a free alternative to GoHenry or Greenlight?

For the tracking part, yes. Piggy does not issue a card: you hold the money and Piggy keeps the books. If the card is the point for your family, you need one of those apps. If it is the ledger and the goals, Piggy is free.

How does the automatic allowance work?

Pick an amount and a day. Each time you open Piggy, it adds any allowance that fell due since you last looked, dated on the right days, and never pays the same day twice.

What happens to a monthly allowance on the 31st?

In shorter months it is paid on the last day of the month instead, like 28 February.

Can both parents use it?

Piggy lives on one device. To move it, use Download backup and Restore on the other device. There is no live sync because there is no server.

Is the interest real?

No. It is pretend-bank maths that you, the parent, pay. It is there to show kids how saving grows.

You pay this yourself. It is pretend-bank maths to make saving fun, not a financial product.
