Is Even a free Splitwise alternative?
Yes. It covers the core of Splitwise (groups, uneven splits, balances and settle-up) with no daily expense limit and no paid plan.
Do my friends need an account?
No. Copy the share link and send it in your group chat. The whole ledger travels inside the link, so anyone who opens it gets their own copy.
Does Even sync between phones?
No. There is no server, which is what keeps it free and private. When things change, send a fresh link, or move your data with Download backup.
How does settle up work?
Even adds up what each person paid and what each person owes, then finds the fewest payments that bring everyone to zero.
Can I split a bill in a different currency?
Yes. Pick the currency on the expense and Even asks for the exchange rate. It never looks rates up, so the numbers match what you actually paid.
