Sawhorse · Cut lists
Plan every cut. Waste less wood.
Enter your sheets and the parts you need. Sawhorse lays them out to save material and prints a cutting plan you can take to the saw.
Your sheets
The boards you are buying or already have. Leave “How many” empty if you can buy more.
The parts you need
Lock the grain on parts where the wood pattern must run along the length. Sawhorse will never turn those.
Your cutting plan
Optimised, though not guaranteed to be the best possible. Check each cut before you make it.

A cut list should not have a meter
Popular optimisers give you five free tries or cap you at thirty parts. A cut list is arithmetic. Sawhorse does it for free, as many times as you like.

How it works
Plywood, MDF or anything in sheets, with sizes and how many you have.
Each part's size, how many, and whether the grain must run lengthways.
Numbered cutting diagrams for each sheet, the cut order, and the offcuts worth keeping.
Questions
What is kerf?
The width of wood your saw blade removes with each cut. It is usually about 3 mm (1/8 inch) for a table saw. Ignore it and parts at the end of a sheet come out short.
Is the layout the best possible?
It is optimised, not guaranteed perfect. Finding the perfect layout is a famously hard problem. Sawhorse runs several strong methods and keeps the best result, which is usually as good as a careful person with a pencil.
Can I use inches and fractions?
Yes. Switch to inches and type sizes like 23 1/2 or 3/4. Results show to the nearest 1/16 inch.
What does locking the grain do?
It stops Sawhorse from rotating that part, so the wood grain runs along its length. Turn it off for parts where grain does not matter, like MDF, to save material.
Can I mix materials?
Yes. Give each sheet a material, like 18mm ply or 6mm MDF, then choose which material each part is cut from.
